What this means

Recover the words that survive in a Pages document.

Pages recovery is available in desktop browsers. It creates a partial plain-text copy and, when it can be verified, a DOCX copy, with a report, not a repaired Pages file. The input limit is 16 MiB. Folder packages, nested indexes, legacy formats and protected files are unsupported.

Native testing covers Mac Pages 12.1. Other producing versions and compatibility of each recovered output remain unverified.

Supported approach

What Pages recovery can preserve

01

Document body text

Recover the body text, text-box and shape text, table cells and comments when their stored text remains readable.

02

Verified DOCX when possible

When the recovered text can be represented, Openable produces and independently verifies a DOCX copy; otherwise the plain-text copy is offered on its own.

03

A report of recovery losses

Download the plain-text copy, any verified DOCX, the separately labeled uncertain salvage, and the full report. Review missing or changed content before relying on the result.

Common questions

File recovery FAQ

Can Openable repair a corrupted Pages file?

Pages recovery is available in desktop browsers. It creates a partial plain-text copy and, when it can be verified, a DOCX copy, with a report, not a repaired Pages file. The input limit is 16 MiB. Folder packages, nested indexes, legacy formats and protected files are unsupported.

Will layout and images survive?

No. Openable recovers document text and, when it can verify one, a DOCX copy. Original layout, object placement and reading order, images, headers and footers, comment authors, and most styling are not restored.

What is uncertain salvage?

Text reached only through unconfirmed object paths is saved in a separate labeled file. It is never mixed into the confirmed plain-text or DOCX copy.

Can I recover a Pages file on iPhone or iPad?

Pages recovery is available only in desktop browsers. Use a desktop computer to recover this file. iPhone, iPad and Android recovery are not enabled.
